You're there;
I can hear you,
Sleeping in the next rooom,
Separated by a wall.
A thin wall.

I imagine you
Lying there,
One arm curled protectively
Around your pillow,
Your face soft,
Innocent.

I wonder -
Do you hear me?
Do you see me
In your mind,
As I see you in mine?
Questions best asked
At three a.m.
And better left
Unanswered.
