Misadventure on Wheels

Arriving at Miami airport from New Orleans - that was our first
mistake. Turns out Adventures on Wheels 'Miami' offices are in fact
Moturis RV offices in Fort Lauderdale, some 20 miles north, an $80 taxi
ride away and right next to Fort Lauderdale airport .
The 'convenient' free daily shuttle service we had missed by a mere 8
hours. It left at 7am.
'Ten years of excellent service' boasted Adventures on Wheels corporate
literature, seems we picked the two weeks of the decade when it all
mysteriously fell apart.
Arriving at the garage in Fort Lauderdale, we were met by a hassled
Swiss Moturis employee who 'had to wait for us and should have left at
4.30pm'. "i don't know anything about the car, you will need to speak
to Adventures on Wheels" she groaned as we remarked on our beautiful
red 1994 Mercury Tracer Waggon / Ford Escort with its generous share of
cigarette butts and 175,000 miles on the clock.
As we drove off I told the employee who was locking up now with a sense
of urgency never seen during working hours that we would probably be
back. How right I was.
