MOVING HOUSE.
It is going to be a good day I thought I could feel it in my bones.
This morning I went in to the kitchen to make myself a cup of tea. Then
I opened the door to let the dogs in from the kennels. When they had
seen me they went crazy, and gave me a morning wash. Afterwards I took
my tea into the lounge to watch GMTV for a while. I heard the letter
box go. And as Robert had got up, and he was in the kitchen, he picked
up the post of the floor, after the dogs had a chew at it. Then he came
in to the lounge. There is a letter for both of us he said. O! I said,
as he gave it to me. I read it, and then I said, "It's about the
house
They want us to go and see it as soon a possible". Robert grabs and
kissed me. And said, "Now we can start making plans" We got in touch
with our friends to make some arrangements to see if we could go and
see them and the house following week.
The next week we went and called into see Marge and Jim. First. Then we
went to see the house. Before we could set off, Robert had to take the
dogs for a good walk, as we could not leave them at home as we were
going to be out all day
Right is every one ready to go now? I asked. Yes, Robert said. Then,
off we go. We were travelling for sometime, when we decided to stop at
the next Service Station. We let the dogs out. Robert found some green
so they could have a run. When they came back I gave them a drink, and
put them back in the car. Then we went for something to eat, as we were
both starving, We had a cooked breakfast. Bacon eggs fried bread, and
sausages. Can't you just smell it? When we had finished and enjoyed it,
We went back to the car and got into it finished the rest of our
journey.
I bet you the readers are wondering where we are going? You will soon
know just keep reading and all will be revealed.
We got to our destination, and found our friends. They were happy to
see us again. We met them at Blackpool, and we have been friends ever
since.
They gave us a cup of tea and a sandwich, and we chatted for a while.
Robert took the dogs out for a walk. When he came back it was time to
go to the housing to see about the house.
When we got there we made ourselves known to them, and they told us
all the ins and outs about the house, and then they gave us the keys to
go and have a look at it.
We had to let them know if we wanted it or not. When we found the
house, Robert put the key in the door and said to me, "Are you ready
for this?" Yes, I said, then he turned the key, and then opens the
door, we went inside. I could not believe what I saw. It was so clean
and the decorating was not bad at all. We had a good look around from
room to room. Well, Robert said, what do you think, shell we take it or
not? Or shell we phone a friend or even take 50-50. But, remember when
you have signed on that dotted line there will be no turning back. He
took me in his arms and said. "I love you Mrs P" and I want you to be
happy, and I know you will be here. I said ok we would go for it. Are
you sure? Yes, you're final answer? Stop playing about I said. Yes,
yes. On that he kissed me again, We were like two teenagers. Let's go
then and sign on that line. He said. Of we went back to the housing. To
tell them that we will have the house. We signed on the dotted line
then we came out. We went back to Marge and Jim's house. And we told
them that we had excepted the house. Of course they were very happy for
us. Now we are neighbours at last they said.
They gave us a meal before we went home. And Robert took the dogs on
their last walk before we set off on the road again.
O! Did I not tell you reader's there is a clue, We are going to live
about 50 miles from the sea, and it is up North?
When we got back, there was a message on the answering machine; it was
from Robert mom. I gave her a ring back. And told her that we had
something to tell them. So I asked her and Dad to dinner the next
day.
The doorbell rang; it was Robert's Mom and Dad. They came in and I made
them a cup of tea. The dogs came and made a fuss of them as always.
Then Robert mom said now what is the news that you have to tell us?
Have a cup of tea first, I told them. When they had settled down, I
handed them the letter. Oh we are pleased for you, but are it what you
really want, Dad said. Yes, we said. We have been waiting for this for
a long time. And you now that we have not been happy here. You have our
blessings they said. But we will miss you. Thank you we said and gave
them a hug. We will miss you too but don't worry; you will be the first
ones to visit us for a holiday. I said. They had their dinner, and then
later they made their way home.
Now we can tell our friends, Robert said.
On the Tuesday evening I went to a club to do Line Dancing. Now what
shall I wear tonight, I thought, I think I will put my jeans on with my
cowgirl blouse, and my boots. When I was ready. I made my way to the
club. Robert never came with me. He was not much for Line
Dancing.
(Are you still watching these space readers?)
When I got to the club, My friends were already there; we all sat at
the same table together every week. I told them the good news, and they
were shocked, as they did not think that we would ever leave the
Midlands. They asked, when we were moving? At the end of the month, I
replied. We shall have to have a party for you both.
It was getting closer, I had started to pack and there was so much to
do. I did not rely how much junk we had. I had booked the Removal Van.
He had given me 20 boxes to use. I thought, I will not need them all,
but I did. Gosh, where has it all come from? I thought. After a while I
stopped for lunch. Then I started now was I? I thought. O, I know, I
was going to go in the kitchen next to empty the fridge freezer and mop
up all the water that had ran all over the kitchen floor from the
freezer The dogs were having a paddle and also in the way, I was ready
to pack them in boxes too.
All the boxes were filled up, and the carpets up. We used the spare
room to put everything in. The cupboards had been emptied so there was
not much we could do till the last minuet.
The last week had arrived and on the Tuesday evening we went up the
club. For the last time. When we got up there, They had put on a lovely
spread for us and it had brought tears to my eyes. I am going to miss
you all I said. So are we, We hope that you both will very happy, and
also keep in touch. They said. They gave Robert and I some presents,
which was very nice of them.
Rita the Instructor had called Robert and I up on the stage. They all
clapped as we went up, When we got there, she gave us a big Bouquet of
flowers, and said, this is from all your Line Dancing friends, and
don't forget us. I again began to cry. At the end of the evening we
said good bye to our friends
On the Sunday, we were moving. It was eight -o-clock. In the morning
and I was looking for the teapot for a cup of tea. I had found it, in
one of the boxes. I had a cup of tea. Before we put the finishing
touches to the packing. The van arrived at nine. The car was loaded up
with the things we wanted to take with us.
Have you guessed yet?
The men started to load the van up. And I was let things get to me So
much to do, I thought I will be glad when we are on the road, away from
here and starting a new life up North.
At last we had loaded. Up everything was done. Now we were on our way
to our new home. Robert said to me there is no turning back now.
It took four hours to get to ... (wait for it - are you ready? Ok I
will let you out of your misery) ... it is in Hull.
We had arrived at last. Marge and Jim were waiting for us I had giving
them a key. We had a cup of tea while they were unloading the van. We
let the dogs out of the car into the garden out of the way. After about
an hour and a half later it was all done and the Removal men had gone.
And also our friends. We were on our own at last in our new home.
Well, Mrs P, We are here now. How do you feel now? Robert said, It
feels as though I am in a dream and I am going to wake up and it's not
going to be true. I said. Believe me it is true all right, he said.
Come on outside and let's do it the right way. Robert said do what? I
replied we went out side, this he said, and picked me up and carried me
over the threshold. We kissed and then I said, to him, I do love you Mr
P. me too he said.
THE HAPPY ENDING
