A SONNET FOR KANE ON HIS 24th
Though years of growing may seem many, yet
They are still sapling years upon the tree
Of life- but from first stem, now firmly-set,
Bud branches of time's possibility.
Or other-worded, the ship has left the shore
To seek the treasure of its voyaging-
The sea of time still largely lies before,
The joy of unexpected journeying.
Or further-tried, the wanderer's away
To seek the fabled lands of future years;
And as he travels finds the view's display
Is ever broader, embracing wider spheres.
So be this seen as blessing of your day:
To know yourself upon life's wider way.
