The Winter Of My Life

The winter of My Life
The autumn leaves are falling
The clouds obscure the sun
A chill is in the air
A new season has begun
Spring is but a memory
The daffodils are spent
The lilac tree that bloomed in May
Weeps for her leaves in their descent
Summer's rose has faded
The petals have lost their scent
This once proud beauty
Has lost her magnificence
Now winter begins the final blow
Nature is stark and bare
But suddenly it begins to snow
And beauty is everywhere
It cradles all the branches
Wraps her arms around them with love
Bringing back their former lustre
Like a miracle from above
So too my life has evolved
Many are the tears I've shed
For a life once filled with beauty
Left faded and weak instead
Now I embrace my winter
As I age I realize
If you carry spring within your heart
REAL beauty never dies
