An Old Man

An old man cried a single tear
That followed the path of his wrinkled cheek
And fell to the blanket
To die as he died
No one had known him
No one had cared
Twelve days later they found him dead
A stranger had smelt him rotting
A young girl played with her friends in the street
Her father long since gone
Her fathers father never even known
A man her mother would not, could not name
The old mans friends had died before him
Left him to die on his own
The old mans dog had died before him
His one remaining friend had gone
It rained the day he was buried
Not even sunshine graced him with its presence
He lay as he had died
Alone, Unknown, Unloved
