Here's a list of places I went to when I didn't feel like going home:
-Games arcades, church corners
-Hotel lobbys, rooftops
-Friends' houses, bus stops
-Night clubs, train stations
-Abandoned houses, car parks
-Local park, streets
-Hospitals, 'net cafes, 7-elevens
-Strangers' houses, their cars
-Under the Bridge: where I saw your sign...
Here's a place I haven't yet been to: juvenile centres
I feel much better now, thank you. But sometimes kids just need a place to lock up their troubles until we have the mental strength to deal with it. I dreamed of a sanctuary that is warm, with bean bags, hammocks and cuddly toys where we could just curl up and think.
Where we wouldn't be questioned or kicked out into the cold night, wouldn't be lectured at, or challenged.
Where we could just bring some music and not have to look at what we couldn't afford.
With plants to water and animals to take care of.
A place that's not so quiet that we'd go crazy...
And where we can also hide from all the accusations of the world,
where we can just be, where we can calm down
A little book to doodle in our scraps of troubles, our own locker for little treasures, a free phone for when we feel brave to talk to family...
Sometimes we don't want to be preached at
Mostly we know what we're supposed to do
Often we're just too tired to keep fighting on
Once in a while we need a safe place to cry
A pretty tissue box, a kitchen in which to cook something warm and sweet...
