The knife hung in the air,
dripping crimson red blood.
A man lay dead and a woman stood motionless.
"Mum! Come on Eastenders 's started!!"
"What? Oh ...coming!"
She wiped the blade on a kitchen wipe and stood for a second staring at the figure on the floor.
A blood lake of a puddle was expanding from his chest, he was face downwards.
His expression had been one of shock, then horror, encroaching death had smothered one last cry.
She went to the fridge and took out a small box of Maltesers.
Stepping into the living room,
"anyone for chocolate?"
Her two children smiled expectantly, hands outstretched.
Kevin looked up from reading his story.
"There's some lovely imagery there Kevin, and I like the juxtaposition of the horror with the mundane, but I feel a Mars Bar would have been so much more powerful."
There was a hum of agreement from most of the rest of the class.
Kevin took his seat confused but pleased, in a way.
