Concoction, Combustion!

For about a year now I have been putting a slice of fresh ginger in my drinks, when I had hot chocolate for my first drink of the day, it went in there and then my second drink, straight after that was a nice cup of tea, the same slice of ginger went in that.
When the hot chocolate all finished, because of my diet, my way, no guilt attached, I carried on putting in the fresh slice of ginger in both cups of tea.
Later in in the day, I would add a fresh slice of fresh ginger into my small bottle of shop bought water, then the empty bottle and the ginger would go in the bin!
Recently Meghan my daughter, showed me that she has added slices of cucumber, a slice of kiwi and a slice of lemon to her bottled water. She told me why. I thought very healthy.
I thought it was a great idea, so the following day, I went to town and got a cucumber, and a lemon, I already had the fresh ginger. I opened a small bottled water and put in a thick slice of cucumber, a slice of lemon and a slice of fresh ginger. I decided to leave it, for as long as possible before I drank it. Many hours later, I opened it again and smelt it, it smelt of lemon, I had a little drink from it.
The following day, ¾ was left in the bottle, I opened it and it smelt very strongly of ginger. I tasted it, it was awful, it was overpowering. My senses didn’t like the smell or the teste. My mind was telling me, is this safe to drink? Had I gone too far with the healthy drinking? I knew people mixed all sorts with their smoothies, but that is usually drank straight away, this concoction, was almost 24 hours old, and wasn’t in the fridge.
When I got back home, I smelt it again and I didn’t like it, the small was almost offensive to me, and the water was no longer clear.
I decided to throw it all away, even though I had been thirsty, well before this.
I decided to do a bit of research, to make sure it was all safe for body, tummy, and me.
