Nando’s!
I did not tell Meghan about yesterday, the woman that had shouted at me! She was stressed enough about her car, and the possibility of it been vandalized, by the people who had blocked her in, so she was unable to use it to drive to work. But Lois her friend had told her when I went to collect Meghan’s car keys, that she had posted through her letter box.
At work, I was shocked at the video that Meghan had taken showing her little car, completely blocked in by three cars, she had parked it, between two cars and the woman had parked her car behind Meghan’s. The woman had put two notices on Meghan’s windscreen, “You can’t park here,” And “You have been reported to the Council and the Police.”
Daniel, he works nights, then saw what Meghan had put on our family group chat, about the woman shouting at me. Now I didn’t want Daniel to know, as I didn’t want any trouble to come from this, I had no problem with this woman, I just wanted to make sure, that she left us alone and that Meghan’s little car was safe.
When Daniel saw what Meghan had put on the group chat, he said, to me at work, “I am going to her house!” I said, “I don’t want any trouble, I don’t want you to go!” Daniel replied, “I’m going.” I then texted back, “DON’T,” His reply, “I am going Mum, no one shouts at my Mum!” I texted back, “DON’T.” He replied, “OK, I won’t.” I would be finishing work soon; I had been away from home two days.
As I arrived home, Daniel came in a minute later, he was pumped up, with adrenaline! He said to us all, “I went to her house, I knocked on the door and a man answered, when he saw all 6ft 5 of me, his heart dropped, the man said, “I am SO sorry about yesterday,” Daniel said, “No one shouts at my Mum.” Then from inside the house a voice said, “Is that you Daniel?” But it was dark inside, and he was unable to see who it was, and he said, “yes,” The woman then came to the front door, and he saw that it was Miriam from school. Her younger sister was in his class at school.
Miriam said, “I am very sorry about yesterday, it was a very bad day, we have had no heating for us and the kids.” Miriam went on, “There isn’t a parking permit here, and your Mum and sister can park here anytime.” Daniel replied, “OK” And left.
At home he said, “Mum I want you to come with me now so she can say sorry to you to your face,” I said, “OK.” Meghan said, “I want to come too.” She quickly got changed.
The three of us walked the short steps to her home, Daniel knocked on the door and both, came outside.
She said to me, “I am SO sorry about yesterday, I was having a very bad day,” I said, “That’s OK, everything is good between us,” Then Daniel said, “Mum, Miriam is one of the nicest, kindest, person I have ever met.” (what a lovely thing to say, to someone to their face, with her husband there and us) I said, “We have all had bad days, all is well.” She then held out her arms and said, “Can I have a hug?” I said, “Of course,” And we gave each other a lovely gentle hug. Daniel was standing to my left, and Meghan was on my right, I said to Meghan, “Give the lady a hug,” And they too hugged. We then said our goodbyes and left.
The three of us left on a high, and it carried on when we got back in the house. We told Paul all about it, and Daniel had said, when he had heard that she was a nutter, he was nervous of what could happen to him, when he knocked on the door, but he was ready!!!
Meghan said, “I woke up in the middle of the night thinking about her shouting at you, and it made me very sad, that was why I had texted you this morning to ask if you were alright.” She went on, for the hurt that she caused you, shouting at you when you were only trying to move my car, for me, I want to take you to Nando’s and for Daniel going to her house, and sorting it all out, behind your back, I want to take him too to Nando’s.” But it was too short a notice, so Meghan will take us to Nando’s another time soon.
Now peacemakers come in all sizes and ages. Daniel is a peacemaker, he is young, and known by a lot of people, he is also respected by a lot of too. I too am a peacemaker, Meghan said, back at home, “I didn’t want to hug her at all! Because of her, I had to use an Uber 45 minutes to work and an Uber 45 minutes back home, that is very expensive!” Meghan also said, “Because of her, I was too stressed to eat at work, and in the night, I had a headache.” She too knew Miriam’s sister, I said, “It was the right thing to do.” For me, it was like asking two people to shake hands, who before had fallen out, sometimes their heart isn’t in it. But it is a start in the right direction, and it helps to make the world a better place. Daniel had wanted me to wake him up yesterday, when it had all happened but, there was no way, I was going to wake up a night worker, for that. A night worker needs all the sleep they can get.
A famous thing, some Christians say is. “But God.” For who knew, that from yesterday, when it was a bad day, that today, would turn out to be a good day. x
