Welcome.

They should keep ALL politics out of football!
There should be no bending of the knee, for black lives matter, for all lives matter, and no gay rainbow armbands! If I played professional football, I would refuse to do both of the above!!
From all over the world, they came to England. All were eventually welcomed, it wasn’t easy for those who came first, black people, were treated badly, even though they were invited to come and help. With signs on many places, “No coloureds.” Asians they too came, they too were treated badly. The Irish they came, they too were treated badly with signs on many buildings, “No Irish.” Gypsies were treated badly, there were the famous signs, “No blacks, no dogs no gypsies.” Oriental people, were treated badly too, as did a lot of Germans after the war!!!!
England has changed a lot since back then, when slowly people got to know other from different colours, background, and cultures. From work, shops, and neighbours, different people enriched our lives.
Restaurants have helped, us to taste, smell and enjoy many different foods. My favourite is still fish n chips, fresh out the pan!
With social media and the telly, we can also see, and learn about other people around the world. I was fortunate I went to a very mixed cultured school, for all my school days, but as mixed and cultured as it was, it was nothing compared to the schools my kids went to, that was on another level!
Tensions were very high this week in Birmingham, when a minority group said, “Birmingham belongs to us, and we do not want the Jews to play football at Aston Villa ground!” Before this week, Birmingham decided to ban the Jewish fans from coming to support their players. I saw that as racist. Could you imagine the uproar, if that was done to the minority group?
Tensions started to mount. And on the night of the football, schools and business closed early to keep all safe from what could happen.
I was shocked when I heard that, well before the match, SEVEN HUNDRED police were there! I remember saying to Paul, “I am glad you are not a policeman there, I would be very worried.” I went upstairs and said a prayer for protection for all, the players, and the police, no one needs that kind of stress!
Aston Villa won the match 2 – 0, I would have been very nervous if I was one of the Jewish players, far from home with no supporters, it would have been great if the Jews had won! That would have ‘told’ the minority group that Birmingham does NOT belong to them, but to ALL.
Was thankful that no one was hurt, and that the 700 policemen, women, dogs, and horses went home safe to their families as did the Jews and Aston Villa players and fans. x
