Mr. Commandant

Dear Mr. Commandant,
I am writing to you much to the disagreement of my son, Private Dave
Robert's. Maybe you have met him already? If not, when you do, you will
find that he is a very capable young man even if he is a bit strong
headed (he gets that from his fathers' side). Anyway, I will get
straight to the point as my son assures me you are a very busy and
important man.
The Marine Corps has a very good reputation and I certainly do not wish
to cast stones; however, there may be one thing lacking in the overall
program you offer our sons and daughters and that is Spiritual
instruction. I realize it is not politically correct to mix government
and spiritual matters but these young men and women need to know about
God's love and instructions because of the immediate dangers of their
chosen profession.
If they are called upon to be the very best soldiers the Nation can
put to bear against our enemies and maybe even die for this great
Nation are we to sacrifice their immortal souls for our cause? No cause
and no Nation is worth even one of these young people dying without the
knowledge of what Jesus Christ did for them while He walked this Earth.
You my good Sir of all people must know the sacrifice required to be a
good Marine.
My hope is that no Marine will have to pay the ultimate sacrifice
without at least a chance to make his or her peace with the Lord. My
heartfelt desire is that every one of our precious sons and daughters
be taught the wisdom contained in God's Word and given a chance to hear
about the hope, peace and eternal benefits that comes from being one of
"God's Marines."
I remain thankful for your service to our great Nation and will
continue to pray for you as you lead my son and our Nations best
military service. May God richly bless you, your family and your Marine
Corps.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Audrey Roberts
