Love's Illness

She'd lost a lot of weight
In a very short space of time
People had started asking
In hushed voices
If she was ill
She looked ill
With gaunt cheekbones
And protruding ribs
But she continued to smile
Behind vacant eyes
While politely refusing
Her dinner
And dressing for another
Gruelling workout
In truth, she wasn't i'll
But was suffering

From a broken heart
