you could watch them wheeling

of decimals
a maths lesson
was won where my sums made a pretty pattern
one April Fools
the head of class said
before the geography test
write a story for a joke instead
I got an A in geography once
the aim of games seemed to me
that life could not be this bad again
library was nice
though it took me ages to realise
if Sister tore the pages out
someone kissed
English was strange
either things move you
or they don't
I was never any good at knowing why
asked to stand outside to cry
when we did a Wilfred Owen poem
I couldn't even compose myself
