Paths

you said you'd come
to see my trees
you always understand
it's why I love you
I opened the curtains
so I could see your shoulders
pale as clouds about the moon
and it was easier, right
to have you in my room
walking sensation's paths
than these where my soul lives
alone
and when we went out
into the leaf soldered whitelight
and the raindrops shattered
wet bright on my head
I put my hand
over your neck
so they'd not trickle down
make you cold
but in bed when I told you
"I love you" you said
trying to find another path
to the same place
I touch your ear
like the sound of the rain
