Her eyes look out in sadness
Her mind it wonders why
The people around her are crying
And laying down to die.
Her belly is bloated and hungry
Her throat is sore and dry
She needs just a little bread and water
But alas in vain she will cry.
The land about is barren
Not a blade of grass in site
It's a yellow sea scattered with bodies
An ocean filled with blight.
The flies are buzzing madly
Crawling on decaying skins
Covering a carpet of bodies
That once held life within.
We in our land of plenty
Will never feel what her eyes see
Never know the death that surrounds her
As her soul departs from this earth,
Joyfully.
