Travel North,
you will find no flake of snow
or ice plastered under your feet:
only a small white deer
washed up in white sand.
Travel East,
follow oppositely the star,
you will find ferns in
abundance,
or a sun which threatens to sink.
Travel South,
meet imaginary penguins.
It will not be as you expect
(a path for the hunter)
and you may become tangled in the hush.
Travel West,
with the smallest implication
of paper scraps in the breeze with you.
The beast that rises in the horizon
is made all of leaves.
