Butterfly

You are a butterfly
caught in a net of memories.
Frightened, fragile and free,
bright and beautiful.
An innocent child.
You emerged from your cocoon,
A catalyst. Changing.
Trying to be so much more.
Taking lead weight on your feather-light wings.
You try to be more. More.
More than you ever could be
you flutter-by. Quickly, quietly,
but you could never go unmissed.
Too beautiful, too considerate
you catch the eye, while some people try to catch you.
They pull off your beautiful wings.
Torture.
They use you
dellicate, fragile you.
Strip you of your glory.
You who would fly into any flame to save another soul.
Wings pinned to a wooden cross,
Not to bask in the spot light
But to burn for others
