Barry the Monkfish

There once was a monkfish called Barry
Who lived off the coast of Canvey
Given the chance,
He loved to dance
But he couldn't because he was a monkfish
He was the only one in the shoal
With the yearning to dance in a show
So he tried to attend
A theatre in Southend
But he couldn't because he was a monkfish
He knew that the best way to start
His career in the performing arts
Was to get out of the bay
And star in a play
But he couldn't because he was a monkfish
He took all the help he could get
And jumped in a fisherman's net
And once he was ashore
He tried to perform
But he couldn't because he was a monkfish
He was put in a fish shop in Leigh,
Where there were hundreds of humans to see
He tried to attract
Their eyes with his act
But he coudn't because he was a monkfish
He wished, after all this commotion,
That he could go back to the ocean
He'd make his amends
And school with his friends
But he couldn't because he was a monkfish
