Home Thoughts, From Abroad

O, to be in England
My home, I love the best
For those who stay in England
Don't put up with this mess
Trapped in some foreign land
Robbed of orientation
There's nothing I can understand
Quelle mauvaise situation
La Notre Dame de Rouen
Me rend un peu plus fort
But if I lived in London
I'd enjoy life a lot more
England's streets are civil
But here are naught but flawed;
For what multitude of evil
I've witnessed here abroad:
I've seen the street be set alight
And public urination
Cacaphonous noise waits 'til night
As does my satisfaction
For only in my dreams
Can I gain some respite
When quaint forests and streams
Of England grace my sight
But, too quickly I wake,
In France, with skies still bleak,
My blissful spirits break
And return next I sleep
Wherefore did I leave home?
C'était voracité?
Pour ganger un diplôme?
Non - c'était stupidité
I'm crushed, defeated, sick,
J'envie tous les anglais
I've burnt out my last wick
And it's only been a day
