Her feet tread the ways of a thousand years
Superficiality quells her fears
On the surface the sun shines bright
No need for a lantern's quavering light
Or a budgerigar to lower down
To die in the pits of the underground
Black caves yawn at darkness's door
But their dingy depths she will not explore
Worms cry out their slimy song
'Underground is where you belong'
But she tramples on the world below
In its hidden tunnels she will not go
Underground the magma swells
And rises up in molten wells
Still she lives her fantasy
The world is only what we see
But soon the time will come around
When she will be the underground
