Choices in Life's Journey

A traveler, dusty from his trip, reaches a fork in the road of life.
He must make a decision.
He sees Wisdom, dressed in white, standing in the middle of the
fork.
The traveler asks, "You look like you could help me. Which road should
I take to find happiness?"
Wisdom points towards a certain direction.
"This path that veers to the right of the fork, it's very narrow and
slopes upward. You can't take anything with you, but at the end of your
journey, you arrive in a lovely paradise, where you will never thirst
or feel hungry, and where you'll live forever. There you will find true
happiness."
The traveler shakes his head, for he has with him a wagon filled with
his belongings. It would not fit in that narrow path. He had worked
many years to acquire all these valuable items. He did not want to let
go of them so easily. Then his crafty mind begins to say to him
"Besides, how do I know if this person is telling me the truth? Maybe
they say that to steal from people." So he asks, "And the next road? It
appears much larger."
Wisdom frowns and says,"If you take the left road, it slopes downward.
It will make your journey easier, and you will be able to accumulate
material riches along the way."
The traveler eagerly heads for the large road before Wisdom could
finish.
"Wait," says Wisdom, holding up her arm. "At first, you will enjoy
life, but over time, you will be burdened by the load of material
wealth, weighing your every step. When you reach the end of the
journey, you must place the load down for the next traveler. You cannot
take it with you."
What if the traveler happened to be you? Which path would you take?
