If you loved me

If you loved me, you'd be sorry
And never do it again
If you loved me you'd endeavor
To heal my hurt and pain
If you love me you would hold me,
Try to make everything all right
If you loved me you would call me,
And be here with me tonight.
If you loved me you would try to make me
Happy all the time
Never stand me up or ditch me
Never make me want to cry.
If you loved me you would kiss me
And wipe my tears away
Insteado f making them flow freely
As they have done today.
What else can I assume my love, except that your love is gone
Evaporated in the sun, dried up, withered, vanished in the dawn?
You are never sorry, you have yet to mend your ways
No doubt you'll make me cry again within the next few days.
Now my skies are cloudier than they ever were before
I think we might have to break up, but still I am not sure.
For if I say that we are done, 'twill be forevermore
I'll never be able to take you back, come knock upon your day.
My head on your shoulder will never again rest,
I'll never be held in your gentle caress.
And so, my love, I waver on, in darkness and doubt,
still holding to the hope that you
despite your actions tonight,
love me still and will care for me, and soon I will see the light
Shine through the darkness of overcast skies
And lose myself in the clear blue of your eyes.
