Has the clock strikes 5,I remember those memorable times, when we shared an hour a day just passing the time a way, you with your stories of the war, me asking you to please tell more.
I fondly remember the laughs we shared of all things you got up to all those years ago while you and men like you, help to keep us safe.
Like the time you were chased down the beautiful hills of Austria by a farmer with his shotgun, after he had found you with his bride, I laughed with a surprised look upon my face, you leaned forward in my worn out rocking chair, you favoured, and said' yes but I was a young man with needs, thats my plead officer' I laughed some more has I had a picture flash before me of you being chased by a man with a shotgun while you had your trousers round your ankles, It was more like a story out of the carry on films I remember remarking to you.
But with any war there comes tears and we both shed a few of those hey 'norm', not just for the brave men/friends who had lost their life for us, or the loved ones you never got to see, but also for the moments like, never having the chance to say good bye to a mother you adored. oh dam the war!!!
Thank you for making me smile on those cold, weary days. And for keeping us safe always.
And thank you for making our world a better place!!
But most of all thank you for being simply, wonderful, and for being YOU!!!!!
