Feelings for a Mother
By raindrops
- 524 reads
Mother, how I wanted to hold you tight,
to show you that I cared.
Our forces repelled each other,
but my love for you was always there.
Deeper than you know,
more present than I showed
Time and marriage had ravaged you.
A life of bearing and giving.
The daily struggle has taken its toll.
Your labored step and breath battered my soul.
I'd lamented your silence,
spiked at your forbearance,
desired for your freedom,
and prayed for your happiness.
But I had done nothing.
Not a brave heart to reach.
Not a kind word to sooth.
Not a warm touch to heal.
I hurt for you.
I shed tears.
I feel remorse.
I feel pain.
Your life was not lived in vain.
I know of your kindness.
I know of your sacrifice.
I know of your achievements.
I just wish that you would know too.
