Lingering Burden

The misery is eating her alive
He endures her instability,
So she'll continue breathing
Suffering in her whir pool of darkness

Her heart aches for him
His heart aches to leave her chaotic life
Deceitful smiles,
Pretentious affection.
False-hearted ballads he sings to her

He hinted the sickness in his stomach,
She was blinded by the love in her heart
He waltz further away
She marched closer
Both unwilling to see the unsympathetic reality

She felt so lucky to have him
He felt cursed to have to suffer through her pain
Finally,
One mistake was all it took
Sweet release of this made believe love

He walked away,
Relieved
Comforted
Slightly guilty
Nevertheless”happy

He turned around to kiss her good bye
Only to see,
Nothing.
Her breathless body will forever linger
As his burden
