Aslan – picture of Incarnation

Could a god become a lion?
– a powerful, rideable lion?
Could a supernatural Spirit
become a man to visit?
With such a One it’s possible –
God in a crib believable!
Why did Aslan come to rescue
the land from winter constant?
Why did Jesus come here bringing
a gift far more important?
To save us from our foolishness,
sin’s wintery hard unhappiness.
Just like spring brought thaw and blossom,
the Christ brings joy and freedom.
And like Aslan, He is able
all power, and wise, not feeble:
He will destroy all evil terrible,
but welcomes all the sorry, humble.

Chronicles of Narnia
Beautiful stories with great moral lessons for teenagers and kids but be careful! Aslan is not meant to be Jesus, in fantasy fiction he is just a great lion with great magic, not even human, never mind God! Certainly not Jesus!
Just wonderful youth fiction by a learned loving Catholic priest with brilliant imagination!

Oh sorry!
Oh sorry I didn't know that Rhiannon, they say CS Lewis was a British author, literary scholar and Anglican lay theologian. He was married I knew from his books! And the film Shadowlands. So he could not have been a Catholic priest! Turns out I admit I'm a bit ignorant!
At least the Narnia stories I know by heart!
Keep well & Nolan
