At the time God chose … [Advent 4]

[Continuing the hymn-for-Sundays series]

For when the time was right
Jesus was born – just when
Joseph and Mary had to go
way down to Bethlehem.

Went for the census count,
where, filled with hay, a trough
became the Christ-child’s simple cot:
not rich, owned just enough!

An angel throng announced
– but only heard by those    
few humble shepherds in the night
– such witnesses God chose!

Some wise men living far
with wonder saw a star
that signified birth of a King
– they went to worship Him.
