Veiled, not Eclipsed

[Continuing the hymn-for-Sundays series]
His heavenly glory great was not eclipsed
when Jesus came to earth, but it was veiled –
clear glimpses of His glory – many failed
His goodness, wisdom to admit, discern.
But glory all will see at His return
– and at its brightness evil can but burn.
John saw a vision of Christ’s glory when
risen, directing the affairs of men,
He met John, teaching all the churches how
they must continue persevering, know
His power and plan that soon will be fulfilled
though Satan hinder, have His servants killed.
But Satan’s end is certain, his schemes fail;
before God’s glory rebels all will quail.
And now we could not look upon the full
great glory of the Lord, while we are still
residing in weak body, feel sin’s pull
– we long to leave sin’s presence – soon we will !
