A young lady called Jill once had various jobs looking for exactly the right one. First she worked at the till of the corner shop selling groceries and cigarettes. But the shop owner was always very judgemental of her, criticizing her hair, looks or clothes almost every day. “You can’t work with the public looking like that” he would say, “I suggest that you do something about it.’ So, she left the job at the shop and became a waitress at a local restaurant as this was the only work that she could find. But the workload, the hours and the public were all too demanding for her. She worked her fingers to the bone but the tips from the customers were poor and she could hardly make ends meet. Once again she left the place in search of a better job. One that would pay well and suit her just right. After a long while she got a position as a seamstress at a tailor in town and worked for him for a while. But he turned out to be a very unfair chap, and was always taking out mistakes in his tailoring on her and the rest of the staff. She could not work for the likes of him any longer she told herself and once again went in search of greener pastures. She had become a bit of a Jill-of-all-Trades by that time, and had held half a dozen jobs in two short years, always leaving that work in search of the next. It looked as if she would never find the right job. The pay was poor and the people that she worked for were generally unkind and unfair employers to say the least. She had all but given up hope of finding the job that would suit her just right. Then, by some miracle, she found exactly what she needed at an old lady’s place who ran a kindergarten on the corner of her street. The old lady was kind and thoughtful, always thanking her for her efforts, and valuing her hard work every day. The children loved her and the little ones weren’t ever unkind or unfair. Their young cries of life and the love of it always made her day. She had found a job at last that wasn’t just a thankless task. She and the children and the lovely lady had a wonderful time, and who knows, one day she might take over the whole kindergarten and run it herself. Life and her job was a joy and pleasure at last. Seek and you shall find. Every bird finds its ideal nest one day. There is something out there that is just right for you, and you alone. Keep on trying.
