She said, 'You won't get far'
He told her, 'I don't have to
I have my own head to be free in
And they never can take that away
From me.'
But she just stared at him
She laughed, and said
'I'll see you on the other side
Of your face, your pretty face.'
Hey, little boy,
Why don't you have the sense
Your mother bored you with?
You always were a stupid child,
Loud and free and thick,
They kept you down
For a reason
A reason, that doesn't rhyme,
That reason doesn't rhyme.
Well, they caught you easily,
It didn't take dogs
or heat seeing devices
A little intuition goes a long way
You were in the library
Reading, simple words.
It's lights out,
The end of another day
Night coming, books abandoned,
She cannot, so ask yourself
How free are you now?
