Sock Crafts

What a wonderful invention the sock is. A sock on your hand during
children's bath time can be one of the silliest things ever seen.
Imagine the delight of a small child when the "sock monster" comes to
eat off all the dirt. "Sock monsters" can talk, squeal, and even shake.
They don't have eyes or a nose, but with just a "puppetation" of your
hand, you have one of the most enjoyable games.
The back of a couch makes an excellent puppet stage. Children love to
put on shows of all kinds. Let them pick out a few socks and little
props. Usually, the puppet shows are hilarious and you'll be surprised
at how innovative you child can be when given the chance.
"What's in the Sock?" This is a fun game that takes a little ingenuity
on your part. Place a small item in the toe of a sock and have your
child guess what it is. That may seem easy enough&;#8230;But, when
you reverse the roles and your child puts the item in, can you guess
what's in there?
If you have one of those rare households where the socks actually still
have mates, you can play this next game. Unmate several pairs of socks.
Then, without your help, let you child mate them. Even socks fresh out
of the dryer can be used. It's a great way to get help folding the
laundry, and it also teaches your child matching, colors and
sizes.
Another great sock matching game is done blind-folded. Lay several
matching socks out on the floor. Then put a loose blindfold on your
child. See how many pairs your child can match based upon touch. Then,
let your child blindfold you and you try to match them.
Let your child put socks on his/her hands and feet. Then, with your
child on all fours, take care of your "stuffie puppie". A pat on the
head or a walk around the living room will be fun silliness for you and
your child. Make sure you reverse the role for even more fun. Get
really energetic when you are the puppy.
There are endless possibilities for socks. I hope this gives you that
little boost to be creative and energetic with your child and your
socks.
