All I know these days
is that we are sickle
and sewer bound
a life being lived
underground
loved by rubbish
rats and ruin
we have been made
friendless by disease
you and I
and as the lights speckle out
and the Empire State yawns
under a newly boiled
cornflower dawn
we make our
way to
the tiredness
of the day
