Bang! The garden erupted with deafening squarks and flying feathers.
Lewis closed one eye and aimed again- Bang! A soft thud was ensued by
silence; fluffy whiteness parachuting slowly to the ground like snow.
'Dumb old bird,' the boy sneered, kicking the limp corpse and bloody
wound. He brushed his hand over his sniffing nose and reached down to
haul the animal up by its yellow, twig legs. The head hung down and
dragged to the ground- its eyes weeping. 'Got ya here a big fat turkey
mama. Gon' be good for Christmas lunch t'morro'.' He flung it onto the
concrete step by the door and went in to bed.
The pricking pain awoke Lewis with a start. Every inch of his skin felt
raw and itchy. There was a bustling around him; the clinking of pots
and pans and the swish of water. 'Lewis! Get down here; come help your
mama with this thing!' A voice bellowed in his ear. His body felt hot
and slimy; perhaps he had come down with a fever. Slowly he prised open
his eyes only to see the large image of his mothers face peering down
at him. 'Lewis!!' She screeched again as she smothered his body with
something cold and thick. 'You're all done,' she smiled and then
proceeded to lift him into the air. Next thing, he was thrust into
darkness and encompassed by an immense heat.
'Who wants a nice piece 'a bird?... Lewis! Where r'ya!!'
