Is the US really Babylon

: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names
of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. And the woman was
arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious
stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations
and filthiness of her fornication; And upon her forehead was
written,
MYSTERY,
BABYLON THE GREAT,
THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. --- Rev. 17:3 -
17:5
On September 11th 2001, in New York City, the people of the United
States were faced with an act of terrorism the likes of which they
would never have believed possible upon American soil. Three buildings
were destroyed in rapid succession, through similar acts, by
self-destructive individuals. These actions are being doted as killing
more innocent 'Americans' than ever previously recorded.
The pertinent word being, of course, - recorded.
"We, the people, of the United States" ? that's how the preamble to the
Constitution begins. There-in lies our strength as a nation and our
weakness as members of the human race. The acts of September 11th are
not isolated actions, as we propose and pretend, when we cry out and
scream both our pain and our fear. We, the people, would like to think
that they are, in order to keep from looking to ourselves and realizing
our part in the process of bringing these things to pass.
We wave our flags, and shout our anger to the heavens, crying for
those we've lost and screaming 'vengeance' toward those we hold
accountable for these actions. Yet, as a nation, we refuse to look to
see 'who' is responsible for these actions, or that we have our own
history staring us in the face.
We are a nation born of blood and violence; begun on the day the first
ship landed on American soil, when we came, bringing the diseases and
pestilence that would kill 100's of thousands of those native to these
lands. We walk the world, in the guise of peacekeepers and protectors
of the democratic 'idea', proudly showing the scars from wounds earned
in the very real battles we have fought in the name of freedom. All the
while hiding the stains of innocent blood that soils our hands and
mouths, from battles fought to force our will upon others.
We have fed on the blood of destruction, from the not so distant past,
when six-month-old Native American babies were swung by their heels
having their heads bashed against rocks by the soldiers of the US Army.
To the more recent past where the people of Colombia suffer because of
our creation of Czars to fight against the evil of the 'drug cartels'
and our actual enabling those regimes to continue for the sake of
profit and our self serving pleasures.
Don't believe it? Take a look, for example, at Israel. They are one of
our predominate allies, yet Israel is left to defend themselves against
the same type of terrorism we experienced, on September 11th, year
after forsaken year. Yet as a nation, and their ally, we only express
our collective outrage against terrorism when these actions are finally
brought home to us, apparently by the same individuals who have
persecuted them for decades, having left them to suffer alone until we
needed them.
But what do we need them for 'America'? Is it to resolve the conflicts
of the world? Is it to find a way to recognize and respect the
'brotherhood' of mankind? Or is it even to help them, and in so doing
help ourselves to become a nation of creators and givers, rather than
just consumers and takers?
No. We only need them to aid us in our hunt for vengeance. "Blood must
pay for the blood that was spilled", we cry, and the blood drips from
our hands and lips as we seek even more.
What blood, you ask? President Bush touts a 'war on terrorism', while
almost the entire country screams for the punishment of some terrorist
named 'bin Laden' at any price. Even if that punishment must be exacted
against a country that is so impoverished that its peoples' are forced
to eat grass and burn the dung of cattle for warmth. Will we admit and
own the truth that "We the People" of these United States trained that
same 'terrorist', bin Laden, in all the methods and means of that
terrorism? Not to promote democracy or other noble ideas, but rather in
order to maintain our control of the 'oil reserves' in his homeland,
against the 'evil' of the Communists, abandoning him to 'fend' for
himself when his usefulness had expired? .
A proud race are we ? we "Americans". We follow leaders that serve the
interests of businesses and the military industrial complex that
actually rules our land, while we sleep, deluded by the fa?ade of being
a democracy. How like unto the biblical description of that great whore
Babylon are we, these United States?
Just take a look around you, at the flag waving, effigy burning, pride
in self and prejudice against others we have displayed daily since
September 11th. Take a close look at who we serve by all the hate we
shout against terrorism ? while innocent blood, from our own horrific
actions, still drips from the hands and lips of those who lead
us.
Tell me, if you know; who profits from any war, who profits even from a
'war against terrorism'? Is it the men who die, believing in a country
that abandons them as POW's and MIA's or their families? Is it the
children and families of the victims of these same acts of terrorism
that have been inflicted against the innocents in New York? Is it the
citizens of one of the financially poorest and militarily weakest
nations in the world? Tell me who sits at the table and sups with the
families of those same 'terrorists' the very night of the September
11th bombings?
Tell me, if you know; who's pocket gets lined by war, "America" the
Beautiful?
What happened on September 11th is a tragedy. No one can doubt that and
I would not argue against the pain felt by those who lost family or
friends in each of those cases. I would agree to mourn with them for
their losses, without a doubt or word of dissent.
What has followed, in the media and the 'political' arenas of the
United States since that date can be called, in my opinion, no less
than?
Babylon Waking.
