Skiing
Your hand held out to grasp the ski tow as it comes by,
Up the mountain, it pulls you, to the summit and the sky,
Your heart is pounding, your limbs ache with joyful pain,
You've reached the top, and wish that it transpired again.
View the scene, with its atmosphere and splendour,
This magnificent panorama you will always remember,
Breathe in that untainted, free alpine whispering air,
This joyful feeling, with others who wish to share
Time has come, the moment for that challenging task,
Down the runs you go, and know, ten minutes it will last,
Push down hard with your ski poles, there you must go,
Scenes flashing past, steady or you'll end up in the snow,
Skipping side to side, dodging the others on this run,
This moment you shall remember until the setting sun
Your face is tingling, from the winds that rush from below,
The end is nearer as you dash between the mounds of snow.
The bottom of this magnitude of wonders, is nearly the end,
Your heart is in your mouth, as you take a horrifying bend,
You know its one of the surprises, you must now sustain,
Tomorrow no doubt, you know you willingly do again,
You have finished this adventure, and lay exhausted
And grateful for this gain, you nearly aborted,
Fun is over, back to reality, and finally on your way,
There will be many times like this, on your next holiday.
