Tell me about the time
Before this picture show.
The light was never just right
And the lines were never just so.
The rain was liquid still
Not this colorless confetti
That fills my eyes and fills my ears,
It's made me blind already.
"Your timing is everything",
They instruct me on cue.
"We're counting and measuring
In constant review."
While I'm dancing the dance
On their ascending numbers
They're counting my steps
And they're marking my blunders.
But now, I'm afraid,
Well, I'm losing my rhythm
And I look at the scripts
But can't read what's in them.
So, before they arrive
To bury my soul
Tell me about the time
Before this picture show.
