An Ending

So many words and phrases
I could take to describe,
The way this emptiness
Hurts and tears me inside.

My head fills with pain
And emotions I do not know,
And I cannot explain to you,
Though I know I should let go.

The words have no meaning, not
Echo the sentiment they desire,
To express the greatest torment;
That your heart burns in fire

For someone else. Not me.
And I will never compare,
To her smile, her perfect nature
Of which you so much care.

I can be that distant memory
With dignity and composure.
And the words we both failed to say,
Have finally given me closure.
