‘Great, great, great great, greeeeeaaat Auntie Zina!’
We collapse into hysterics. Soooo very funny
Us kids pickin on you. In your adulthood
Happy to field the abuse. Knowing its’ our way
Of telling you we love you. Pesky kids.
And you did let us stay, in the summertimes.
And all those times, there’d be high jinks,
Drama’s, exposure to truth. Not a dry eye.
Sheets blown clean.
A stage where we
Could climb up, without worry of secrets
Tell it how it was in our eyes
Make mudslides, catch blennies in our hands
And fill the pickle jars with our catch
Before tipping it all back
Scrubbing up contumaciously.
Only sped up by smarties!
A place to be bolder
And we all got older.
I like your new place too
And rambling in the woods
Looking for funghi. Or not.
Just getting lost, and getting unlost
Is enough, to earn a cup of tea
And obtuse friendly fire
Auntie. You are great!
Thank you for that.
