Game on

It was just a game
One night of that deadly cocktail -
Testosterone, adrenalin and alcohol
A night of sexless summer passion
Sly nods and winks, a drunken samba
Lips brushing ears,
whispers,
'game on'
But when I wasn't looking
Someone changed the rules
Cruelly upped the stakes
Echoes of 'game on' played a
Smile at my lips
But not because of what had passed
But because of what could be&;#8230;
Game over
Dined and wined but never kissed goodbye
I remind myself it was just a game
If only it was just a game...
