Dehumanization is a process by which a target group or individual is first portrayed as being sub-human or animalian. At this stage they are not so but the resulting poverty, incarceration and abuse creates humans who are full of anger and who separated from society become primitive... a process even a strong and wise man such as Mandela is not entirely immune to. As wise and benevolent as most of his decisions were, one knows he was unable to entirely forget the long years of imprisoned labor, and that he struggled to forgive those countrymen of his who treated him like a troublesome animal, and not the gold-hearted gentleman Mandela was. Dehumanization through propaganda in movies, books, and speeches etc. was central to how the Nazis committed genocidal mass murder in the middle of civilized Europe; And it's central to how our U.S.A. has ended up with the highest incarceration rate on Earth, why the barbarous practice of solitary confinement is still common, etc.
