on innovation (a letter to a friend)

I remember you mentioned innovation the other day. It's been on a lot of peoples' minds lately. I'm sure you know a bit about innovation. I flatter myself that I do, too. I've done some innovating: in ideas, in language format, in internet technique, in book promotion, even occasionally in electronics.
I believe my innovating began as a disciplined loner kid reading voraciously on many subjects: learning time-honored information and principles. Later in life, faced with a challening situation in one "field," I'd often remember an idea from a different field based on similar principles. Perhaps like you, I've heard similar things from other innovators. Anyway, that's my top goal: to learn to innovate more effectively and more diversely.
These are my thoughts, which I thought to share. Maybe some day you'll share a few of yours. your fellow Nutopian, Sean
