In the midst of the summer haze, an overwhelming scent of
honeysuckle filled the humid air, sunflowers swayed and butterflies
fluttered around the garden, showing off their graceful, vivid colours,
one butterfly caught one of the twin's eyes,'Ah look at that lovely
butterfly, I'd love to be able to fly' said Daisy as she looked at her
other twin Rosie who was too interested in a shiny, red apple which had
fell on the floor beside her 'I wonder if I ate the seed I would have a
a apple tree grow in my tummy' she exclaimed, as both of the girls
layed on a tartan blankets, very imaginitve and creative girls they
were. They layed on the blanket in hope of a wonderful dream to come
true.
Daisy and Rosie, a pair of beautiful five year old twins, lived with
their mother in a detached house at the bottom of a deserted hill, the
smell of freshly cut grass always filled the summer air, and the scent
of a nearby lemon tree gave zest to the country life. Daisy and Rosie,
had wonderful golden curly hair, that was plaited in places, and had
small daisies attached too, they had the most gorgeous eccentric aqua
marine green eyes, that made peoples hearts melt everytime the twins
glanced in their direction, they had the most divine smiles, that
showed their pearly white teeth, a big smile both of them sported. They
had cerise coloured cheeks, although they were happy girls, their lives
ahead of them did'nt have much hope, their mother did'nt have much
money, she made enough money to feed the mouths of her two little
'angels' by selling apple pies in the town centre to a woman who had a
cake stall, although money was an important issue the twins mother
Bella always made an extreme effort to keep the twins at their
happiest.
Daisy and Rosie spent most of their time in their big beautiful
garden, that was filled with many species of the best flowers ever,
Dandelions, Daisies, roses, bluebells all sorts of beautiful rainbows
colours filled the space in which the twins played in as their mother
picked apples from the tree at the end of the garden, the smell was
divine, the scent was so overpowering like oil scents being burnt in an
oil lantern. The twins searched for creatures such as crimson lady
bugs, multicoloured caterpillars, slimy snails, and scary spiders at
the end of each day they would have a competition to see who had the
best creature, Daisy would always win because Rosie was too scared to
pick up all the insects that filled the graceful garden.
The twins would have many picnics, and talk about, witches, fairies,
goblins, princesses, princes, and angels. Their mother made them fairy
costumes that the twins forever wore, they consisted of a green dress,
with pressed flowers attached with saftey pins, and best of all a pair
of wings made out of an old curtain and sticks, although the materials
were cheap and old and rugged, the twins looked sensational in them,
and run around the garden like graceful fairies, they each had a go of
jumping off the homemade swing that was attached to the old Oak tree
and jump off it, seeing if their wings would carry them to their
highest dreams and hopes, but like most things in their lives they
would come crashing down and their dreams would be shattered once
again. 'Oh I wish I could really see a fairy, so she could teach me to
fly mummy' Rosie cried as she fell to the ground once again, wiping the
mud off her nobbly knees,'Well why don't you try and find one' her
mother said in a bid to leave her alone while she was on the ladder
picking apples. 'What an adventure!!!!' Daisy cried with a smile that
filled most of her plump face. 'But first of all my little angels, I
want you to make some lunch for yourselves'.
Rosie and Daisy made their way into the small kitchen that was filled
with real pine furniture and laced with antique blue and white crokery,
the girls loved to make their own lunch that consisted of homemade
bread, for the peanut butter sandwiches, and a slice of angel cake for
a treat, 'Mmmmm' Daisy and Rosie loved the angel cake the most, the
colours bedazzled their green big eyes, pink, yellow white fluffy cake,
with a rich butter icing filling, 'Yummy!' they cried as they poured
the homemade lemon juice into two bright pink tumblers, and moved it to
the tartan blanket under the Oak tree and beside their swing, munching
away at their peanut butter sandwiches, they talked once again about
finding fairies at the bottom of the garden, 'Oh I wish we could find
one fairy' Rosie said, with a sad look upon her face, all the twins
wanted was for glitter to fall from every sunray, for diamonds, rubies,
and emeralds to fall from extinct rainbow colours, for wishing flowers
to return their dreams and most of all to find something better than
what money was worth, all that could be is a lovely fairy to set them
free.
Daisy placed her piece of angel cake on a plate near a small opening
near the Oak tree, 'Whatcha doin?' Rosie said as she finished her last
piece of cake, 'Well....' Daisy started, 'I am tricking the fairies
into eating the angel cake so I can capture one....' Rosie interupted
blatantly in mid sentance. 'You aren't going to eat your angel cake?'
Daisy looked sadly at the slice of cake 'Well, erm one bite won't hurt,
and anyway faires are small the won't be able to eat that much' as she
took an over huge bite of the divine slice of great life, and looked
into the small opening of the Oak tree, both of the twins peered in to
see if fairies were living inside, no sign of a fairy.
The twins began to play another game which involved singing, the
enchanted voices of angels harmonising with the sound of a golden harp,
in the beauty of the colourful garden, notes and sounds that have never
been heard by one soul, a noise that has never been heard by ones
feeble ears, oh how the voices of these beautiful twins were a God
send, oh how these twins were angels in discuise, even fairies!
After an exhausting game the twins fell to the floor, and spoke once
again, as the breeze began to stiffen in a cold sweat, the twins talked
again about fairies,'I want to see one!' Daisy cried, 'Oh why does
nothing good ever happen to us?' Rosie moaned as she began to look over
at the slice of angel cake, 'look I saw her! I saw a fairy!!!! Daisy I
saw a fairy!!!!' She jumped up from the ground pulling her identical
twin towards the ageing Oak tree, 'I saw her! I saw the fairy who will
change our lives!' Daisy was still in amazement, looking at the piece
of cake, and looking deep in the hole that was in the Oak tree, 'Why
she could have flown in this hole, the hole might be her home' Daisy
cried as she reluctantly looked again inside the tree, 'Lets put our
hands inside and she if we can get her' Rosie said, as she placed her
hand on Daisy's, '1.2.3.....' They both cried in enjoyment and
excitement as they put their hand inside the hole in the tree, 'I can
feel something' Daisy said, all of a sudden there was a piercing
scream!!!! 'ARHHHHHHHHH' As the girls pulled out their plump arms, they
found that the were covered in Ants!!!! The girls ran, ran as fast as
they could to their mother who was rolling pastry in the kitchen,
'Mummy, Mummy help we are being eaten by Ants!!!!' Tears streamed down
the cheeks of the small twins, as they cried with total and utter
frenzy, and screamed with fear, as their Mum laughed at them 'They
won't hurt you' as she wiped them from their plump arms.
The cold air began to mix with the humidity, causing the rain to fall
violently and fast, and thunder and lightening ripping through the
country sky, not allowing the twins to play in the garden, sobbing
twins looked out the bay windows and kept their eyes on the piece of
angel cake, tears still streaming down the faces of the dressed up
fairies, as they cried to their mother how they were upset about not
being able to have great treats and toys like other boys and girls, as
their mother eyes began to sadden that she could'nt provide her
children with the qualities of life , Daisy screamed 'I saw her! I saw
the fairy, she is dancing on the angel cake!!!!' The mother smiled as
she saw the fairy dancing, Daisy and Rosie ran outside in the pouring
rain, their plump feet falling in bundles of mud, as the mud penetrated
in the cracks of the twins toes, their mother called them, the twins
had realised that their mother may shout because they had gone out in
the rain without any shoes on, their mother smiled and jumped up and
down with joy as the twins danced with the fairy, underneath the
brilliant rainbow colours, oh how great, as thousands of fairies began
to to appear from the cracks in the Oak tree, and wishing flowers had
returned their every dream, as glitter fell from the sunray, their
mother exclaimed, 'I told you good things come to those who wait' and
the twins cried with excitement 'Mum we have you and the fairies thats
all we need'.
