Moonlit Ballet
Jeraloosa, Jeraloosa!! Dancing at night,
Your beautiful twirls, what a wonderous sight,
The pale of your skin evident in the moonlight,
But the pink of your dress adds flare to your flight.
Sadness in your face but there's no one to see,
You know this, you enjoy this, it allows you to be free,
Free from the chains of the life that once held you,
Shackled you down, trapped the dream you once held true.
But held it always was, never allowed to escape,
As you did 'wifely' chores, for your husband, the disgrace!!
But here you are now, your spirit set free
To dance and enjoy where in life was no glee
But the sadness remains, in your pale soft face,
Your movements hold the joy that in life had no place.
Your footsteps are light and leave no trace,
But your head retains the indent of a medieval mace.
For here the story turns, it saddens my heart,
Truely and beautifully you are a work of art,
But sadly your tombstone bares the date of your death,
The date that records your very last breath,
Where your life was ended by your childhood love,
The man you trusted and adored and held above
All else and all others
Foresaking the warnings, even those from your wonderful brothers.
So now your body is still but your spirit is free,
The beautiful ballerina at last you can be.
Jeraloosa, Jeraloosa on the tombstones you dance,
The spirit released from the flesh now has a chance,
So enjoy it, please do for what it's worth,
Your dream at last freed by your body in the earth.
