Crucifixion

A bloodied crest of thorns 'pon head
A crimson waterfall - so red
This pain, inhuman, forsaking bliss
Oh God, how did it come to this...?
It began upon the dawn of lies
When stars of grief held up the skies
An angered soul, alight with hate
Saw cruelty beckon beyond the gate
Of loyalty, tortured despair
God's only gift, an angel there
Betrayal caused his heart to stray
He spilt his trust, and fled - away
Afraid of death, his final breath
"God, why have you cursed me so?"
His only child - so weak, so mild
Past heaven's torn clouds, he's damned to go
The tyrants called to end it all
To set one free, a tragedy
Of might and justice, an endless war
Where one should live, another must fall
So condemned was he, an oak tree end
To calvary, death's growing trend
Above him, many heavy lies
Forgotten miracles, hope dies
The mocking laughter, eternal pain
Blood came thicker than the falling rain
A crown of thorns - reserved for him
They said 'twas to cleanse him of sin
Afraid of death, his final breath
"God, why have you cursed me so?"
His only child - so weak, so mild
Past heaven's torn clouds, he's damned to go
A final bout of life - won't fade
The bitter night soon stole the shade
A scream for no-one, 'cept agony's grace
As his final tears slipped down his face
Failed by all, and those in need
Soon turned their backs and would not heed
An end for a king
And that it became
A prisoner's future
A murderer's game.
