Wasn't it Homer
who said that plucking the bow
made a sound like the excellent
voice of a swallow?
My acoustic guitar
well strung and cobalt blue
finely crafted, cedar, tuned
bouncing sound off the wall
and into the gullet of a vintage microphone.
Pluck a note with me
and the resonance
will make you think
that the planets have
aligned.
Can you hear the overtones?
The pure and artificial harmonics
ringing with mathematical certainty
in your ears
like the truth of your heritage?
