Neon Desert

A continuous hum.
The ceaseless blinking of a neon strobe.
A tube of brilliant flouresence in a
blur of luminous green and pink
is leaking out into the neon desert.
Travellers who escaped
set up tents on the kerbside
and blockades on the strip.
Didactic sandwich board man
rings in my ears, a fuzzy attack.
Dust everywhere and not a drop to drink.
Planes cross the desert dropping packages.
The civilians jump for joy.
Jack shakes his head.
Moments later they are dust, and returned to the desert.
Let the fictional truth be told.
