London in the Morning

dribbling sunlight drips
small pools of construction-site yellow
from the spongy white sky
dotting down with mute dull glow
wake to the first sluggish drone of traffic
on a bed of footsteps, packaged in a corner
of an entrance to a doorway
people flit past like flies, billowing hordes
expand across the streets as it starts to rain
drizzling droplets
splash in puddles
patter pathetically
wash you with cold.
