An Education In Rebellion

Jeffrey heard the alarm clock go off and gave himself a wry smile. He
knew no-one would hear it.The twins, one boy one girl, lay motionless in
bed, almost as if they were sleeping, the peaceful looks on thier faces
belied the horror that had taken place just minutes before.Jeffrey
afforded himself one last lingering glance at the carnage he had
created.
The blond-haired little boy still lay clutching his comfort blanket
which, throughout his short life, had never left his side.It seemed more
than a little ironic that the steel tent peg, crudely protruding from
the hole in his throat, had pierced the blanket as well, pinning it to
him, draped over his chest like an oversized novelty tie.It used to be
yellow with red streaks, now it was red, with yellow streaks.
The darker haired little girls' vacant eyes stared out from her bloody
terror-stricken face in the direction of her intestines, which lay
draped over the chair beside the bed.She awoke briefly when the hammer
struck her left temple,as it wasnt enough to kill her outright, she was
semi-conscious as she was being disembowelled.Jeffrey was a little
surprised at how much blood there was but he didnt care,he only made
the mess,he didnt have to clean it up.He closed the door and made his
way to the kitchen where the kids' parents were, bound and gagged, tied
to the chairs at the breakfast table, with no disruptions left he could
take his time.
He sat them opposite each other so one could witness the others'
violent demise. He began with the father. To make sure he wouldnt kick
out and knock him from his stride,he took a hammer and nails and nailed
both feet to the floor before taking the sharpest knife he could find
and,one by one, sliced off each of his toes. The pain for the man was
unbearable and he prayed for the end to come quickly, something Jeffrey
would ensure didnt happen.During his muffled screams his gag had
slipped a little and Jeffrey could only just hear his pathetic pleas
for mercy.Ignoring him,he picked up his next instrument of torture,an
axe,and with one mighty swing, lodged it into his shoulder, cutting his
arm clean off where it fell to the floor, still bound to his other arm
as blood poured from the wound that remained. The sharpness of the axe
didnt last and it took 3 swings to sever the other arm, both arms
falling to the floor after the third strike. At this stage the man was
drifting in and out of consciousness,Jeffrey hoped he'd last a little
longer,he enjoyed watching the pain etched all over his face, the sheer
terror in his eyes.He wanted that moment to last forever.Using a
stanley knife,he removed the mans' gag, then his tongue, before turning
his attention to the woman.
She was sat perfectly still, her mind and body in a state of shock at
the sight of her husbands' twitching remains still sat opposite, she
never made a sound as Jeffrey approached with the blood-stained axe.And
then the screaming started.Despite being muffled her screams were still
quite loud, they could not be mistaken for anything other than what it
was,a sharp,high-pitched,blood-curdling,continuos scream which managed
to loosen the gag.He didnt replace it,he didnt see the point, although
her screams had become no more than stuttering sobs, she would soon be
put out her misery.
She knew she was about to die and in a strange way sort of accepted
it,although she hadnt seen or heard her children that morning, she knew
they were dead, and her husbands' body, only feet away, had long since
stopped twitching as his life ebbed away in front of her very eyes.Even
if she could live, somehow survive the horror that engulfed them, she
wouldnt want to,not without her family.Although still breathing, her
life had ended at the same time as her family, the peg that had pierced
her youngests' throat may just as well have pierced her own too.
She looked up as Jeffreystood over her,the axe held high above his
head, and with her tear-stained face quivering with emotion, she
spoke.
"Why?",she pleaded. It was all she could muster, all her struggling and
her screams had sapped all the energy from her broken, almost lifeless
body.
He never answered her,why should he?,he thought. They had made his life
a living hell, the insults, the beatings,he had been made to feel like an
outsider for most of his life. Not anymore he reasoned, now he'd have
respect, people would look at him differently from now on thats for
sure, and with that he brought the axe crashing down onto the back of
her neck.
Jeffrey looked at the clock,8am,he guessed he had just enough time to
shower and change,he'd eat his breakfast on his way to school.
He kissed his mum on the cheek as he did every morning before
school,and left.
