Baptism

I submerge

And I find a love I thought was forever lost,

I am cleansed of the dark memories of my past,

I let go of the hurt I had held on to,

I let the gentle currents nudge me as they wanted,

Welcoming me home...

The fear and stress inside me is extinguished

And I am filled with longing and nostalgia

For this is how I learned and how I grew,

This was my first true love,

The way my body moved so effortlessly,

The way my lungs hold air for so long,

Best or worst, this is my purpose, what I was born to do

And the water has called me home...

I emerge

Clean

Whole

New

Alive

and Happy...

And my life has begun once more.
